A majority of SouthData employees are equipped for emergencies after taking a recent training session by Virtual Fire.
“This class benefits SouthData because now there are 25 SouthData employees who can respond to an emergency situation where another person is found choking or unconscious,” said Elizabeth B. Spires, Human Resources Director. “These employees can help save lives.”
In 2006, SouthData partnered with Virtual Fire of Lowgap, N.C., as an onsite safety training provider. At that time, Virtual Fire provided various training opportunities for employees and helped SouthData begin to build its safety program.
“Virtual Fire has the resources, knowledge and tools to provide many types of training for SouthData and its employees,” Spires said.
The training included Adult, Child and Infant CPR/Medical Emergencies and AED Training. SouthData is equipped with an AED located centrally in the facility.
The hands-on class allowed employees to actively participate in administering CPR to Virtual Fire’s provided mannequins.
“This was a time when the employees could demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of CPR,” Spires said. “After completing the class, the participants will receive a card from the American Heart Association certifying the participant in CPR and AED Training.”
