With 100-percent employee participation, and some innovative events, SouthData led all local teams by raising $12,431 for the Mount Airy March for Babies sponsored by the March of Dimes.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of all the employees. Everyone contributed,” said Mark Anderson, chairman of the company’s March of Dimes employee committee.

Employees donated $5,024, which was matched by the company. A barbecue lunch, games and other donations brought in an additional $2,300. Two employees, Abbie Bauguess and Alicia Easter, were recognized for being the top two contributors.

The employee committee used innovative events to generate excitement and boost employee participation. The events included Denim Days, a silent auction, a pizza lunch, raffles, email bingo, and a display of children’s pictures in the lobby.

The campaign culminated with the 4-mile awareness and fund raising walk on May 16. A team of 30, including employees and their family members, participated from the company. SouthData walkers wore T-shirts designed by employee Cody Edwards, who won the company’s T-shirt design contest.

“It is a privilege to work with such a great group of people,” said John Springthorpe, III president of SouthData. “The money raised for the March of Dimes will help do important work, but everyone in the company gained something by participating.”
