SouthData is pleased to announce that it is expanding its scholarship program for employees’ children, the SouthData Next Generation Scholarships.
Originally, the scholarship program paid for students to attend Surry Community College. Now, the company is extending the program to undergraduates attending any community college, college or university.
The award is a $1,000 scholarship in each of the fall and spring semesters for every SouthData Next Generation Scholar, which may be renewed each school year for a maximum contribution of $8,000 per student.
“The leadership within SouthData believes in the power of education, especially for the youth of our community,” said President John Springthorpe, III. “We have been offering scholarships to the children of employees to attend Surry Community College for many years. I am happy to be able to expand our scholarship program so more of our employees’ children can take advantage of this opportunity.”
For the 2009-2010 academic year, SouthData awarded eight SouthData Next Generation Scholarships. These students will be attending five different schools in North Carolina.
